There were initial teething problems, but it began to work following the appointment of Halvor Moorshead as editor/publisher for the UK market. Halvor syndicated the magazine in Germany and the Netherlands.
Morshead was born on 18 September 1889 in Ballarat, Victoria, the sixth of seven children of William Morshead, a gold miner who had emigrated from Cornwall via Canada, and his wife Mary Eliza Morshead, formerly Rennison, the Australian-born daughter of a fellow Cornish immigrant. William died when Morshead was six years old.
