The ancient Athenian calendar was a lunisolar calendar with 354-day years, consisting of twelve months of alternating length of 29 or 30 days. To keep the calendar in line with the solar year of 365.242189 days, an extra, intercalary month was added in the years: 3, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, 19 of the 19-years Metonic cycle.

A calendar is a system of organizing days. This is done by giving names to periods of time, typically days, weeks, months and years. [ 1][ 2][ 3] A date is the designation of a single and specific day within such a system. A calendar is also a physical record (often paper) of such a system.
A calendar era is the period of time elapsed since one epoch of a calendar and, if it exists, before the next one. [1] For example, it is the year 2024 as per the Gregorian calendar, which numbers its years in the Western Christian era (the Coptic Orthodox and Ethiopian Orthodox churches have their own Christian eras).
