Bluetooth and chipset drivers updated to the newest version, same with BIOS. Computer restarted many times, headphones re-paired at least once, all for nothing. Must be something with Windows 11, because getting back to my old PC with Windows 10 and headphones again magically re-connect automatically after each power-on.
I just got a new bluetooth speaker, an Urbanears Stammen (concrete grey) I can connect to it from my phone, using Bluetooth, and play back sound without problems. But I can't get my Windows 10 laptop (Dell XPS 15) to use it as a playback device. I can connect and pair to the laptop without problems, as you can see in the screenshot below
1) Right click on the speaker icon 🔊 in your system tray (bottom right of your screen). Go to Recording devices. 2) Locate your microphone in the list. I am assuming it is not disabled as you mentioned examples of it working previously. Right click, go to Properties. (Or double click the same Microphone entry)
I do all the steps recommended but the bluetooth speaker doesn't show up in the available devices window. and yes I have turned on the speaker's discoverable mode. – David L. Commented Dec 24, 2015 at 20:31
If your WiFi is using the 2.4 MHz band, i.e. variants 802.11b, 802.11g or 802.11n, it is possible that Bluetooth, which uses frequencies of about 2400 to 2484 MHz and WiFi in the 2400 - 2500 MHz region, are interfering with each other.

I have the same problem. Even Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center didn't help: it claims the phone is not connected though I connected it via USB and granted access to the phone storage (Galaxy S7). My Bluetooth driver on Win10 is "Inter(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)" version 20.100.5.1 dated April 17th, 2019 –
Even when it correctly appears as a device, don't forget to go the bluetooth menu in OS X and choose 'set up new device'. Once you've set it up , any bluetooth speaker or any device will work just fine. Skipping the set-up step might just show the speaker in the menu with an option to use it which doesn't trigger the speakers.
